Luke Bryan’s legacy in country music took center stage at the ACM Honors, where his longtime friend Jason Aldean delivered a powerhouse tribute. Taking the stage, Aldean honored Bryan with a dynamic performance of his early hit, Someone Else Calling You Baby, proving that some songs never fade. The emotional rendition had the star-studded audience on their feet, celebrating a night dedicated to Bryan’s massive impact on the genre. As the final notes rang out, the crowd erupted, with fans praising the undeniable camaraderie between the two country heavyweights.

Last night, the 17th annual Academy of Country Music Honors aired live on TV where a handful of today’s country artists showed up to recognize a few of the ones that came before them.

Jordan Davis honored Alan Jackson (who was there to receive the ACM’s Poets Award), with a performance of “Chattahoochee,” while Carly Pearce performed “Don’t Rock the Jukebox” and Eric Church delivered a stripped-back version of Alan’s 1990 hit, “Chasin’ That Neon Rainbow.” (You can watch that here).

Luke Bryan was also honored last night with the ACM Lifting Lives award, and his good buddy Jason Aldean was there to pay tribute to the 48 year-old country star with a performance of his second career No. 1 hit, “Someone Else Calling You Baby.”

The song was written by Bryan, as well as Jeff Stevens and was released in 2010 as the third and final single off LB’s sophomore album, “Doin’ My Thing.”

While the country star has had a ton more hits in the last 14 years since “Someone Else Calling You Baby,” it’s songs like that from Bryan’s early discography that will stand the test of time compared to the last five years or so, and Aldean did the song justice.
