With the 2024 Billboard Music Awards kicking off, the entire music industry seemed ready to rock, looking to expand their list of accolades. But throughout the night, most looked at Zach Bryan who walked into the awards with the most nominations. But while centered around celebrating another year of music, the BBMAs wouldn’t be complete without some stunning performances showcasing a few hit songs in 2024. And one of the performers happened to be Megan Moroney herself. The voice behind hit songs like “Tennessee Orange”, the Georgia native dazzled on stage at the BBMAs.
While only spending three years in the music industry, Moroney proved herself to be a rising talent as she released her debut album Lucky in 2023. And not wasting a single moment, she turned around in 2024 and released her second album Am I Okay. She even released an EP titled Blue Christmas…Duh. Hitting the ground running, Moroney proved why she is quickly making a name for herself in country music as she performed “Man on the Moon.”
Online, fans loved Moroney’s performance with comments reading, “The way this song just has a million different interpretations and meanings behind it makes it so incredible. Megan Moroney has done it yet again.” Another person even remembered going to school with Moroney. “Fun Fact: Megan is a former classmate of mine. We both went to Alexander High School, both were theater kids, and graduated the same year. So it’s cool to see someone I went to school with become successful.”
Megan Moroney Once Interned For Sugarland
While cherishing her time in the spotlight, Moroney looked to do more than just perform at the BBMAs as she was nominated in the Top Country Female Artist group. Although wanting to add an award to her growing list of achievements, the singer had some stiff competition as she stood alongside stars like Lainey Wilson and Beyonce.
Outside of the BBMAs, Moroney found herself rubbing shoulders with the country music duo Sugarland. With the singer interning at the publishing office operated by Kristian Bush, he remembered the work ethic of Moroney. He insisted, “She’s also a brilliant and quick study who (refuses to be) underestimated who is working and innovating (simultaneously).”
No matter if she wins or not, Moroney is clearly making a name for herself and is sure to leave her mark on country music.
