Amy Grant Plays Her Beautiful Track “Tennessee Christmas”

Amy Grant released her original song “Tennessee Christmas” in 1983 on her first Christmas album, titled A Christmas Album. Since then, she has released four more Christmas albums, with the most recent being Tennessee Christmas, which came out in 2016. This latest album features a re-recorded version of her classic hit.

The hit track starts with:

“Come on weatherman
Give us a forecast snowy white
Can’t you hear the prayers
Of every childlike heart tonight?
Rockies are calling
Denver snow falling
Somebody said it’s four feet deep
But it doesn’t matter
Give me the laughter
I’m gonna choose to keep.” 

And continues to say:

“Another tender Tennessee Christmas
The only Christmas for me.”

The song conveys a heartfelt message about celebrating Christmas with loved ones in Tennessee. The singer reflects on how other states may have snow or warmer weather, but she chooses to stay in “tender Tennessee.”

Amy Grant Performs “Tennessee Christmas” With Her Husband, Vince Gill

Seven years before their marriage in 2000, Vince Gill and Amy Grant performed “Tennessee Christmas” live. Their first collaboration took place in 1993 during the Christmas with Vince Gill event in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they performed together as friends.

The sweet couple did not know at the time of their first performance that they would one day be man and wife.

Grant returned to the stage with her classic song “Tennessee Christmas” at the 2024 CMA Country Christmas concert.
