During Toby Keith‘s concert in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 21, 2015, the crowd chanted “USA! USA! USA!” before a poignant moment unfolded.
The country singer often brings veterans on stage during his shows, but this time was unique. Keith welcomed Lt. Col. Harry Frizzell Sr., a true American hero, on stage and was moved to tears.
Frizzell had served in three wars for 34 years and raised four children at home. Keith dedicated his most patriotic songs, “American Soldier” and “Courtesy of the Red, White, and Blue,” to Frizzell.
After the performance, Frizzell tearfully saluted the crowd, and Keith handed him the microphone.
Frizzell addressed the audience, saying, “My name is Lt. Col. Harry Frizzell. I’m from Oklahoma just like this gentleman…I would like to say just a few sentences here. God bless America.”

“Toby Keith passed away peacefully last night February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time.”
