A 12-year-old boy killed in an e-scooter crash inĀ Melbourneās northeast is being remembered for his ākindness, bright smile, and caring natureā.
Khye Brickell wasĀ critically injured in a collision with a car in Mill ParkĀ about 6pm on Wednesday.
The Year 6 student and athlete died in hospital, police said on Sunday.
AĀ GoFundMeĀ has been launched by Safeworking Solutions, where Khyeās father Lee works, to support the family.
So far, close to $50,000 has been donated.
āWith heavy hearts, we share the tragic loss of 12-year-old Khye Brickell, beloved son of Lee and Kim, and cherished brother,ā a note from the campaign organiser said.
āAs they navigate this unimaginable grief, we want to come together to support them during this difficult time.
āThis Christmas, letās help Lee and Kim take the time they need to heal with their family.
āDonations will ease the financial burden of funeral expenses and daily costs, allowing them to focus on what matters most: each other.ā

Khyeās death has triggered a wave of tributes on social media, including his school who said the young boy āwill always be in our heartsā.
āIt is with great sadness that we share the passing of Khye, a beloved Year 6 student at Mill Park Primary School, who tragically lost his life in an accident on Wednesday evening,ā the school shared on Facebook.
āKhye joined our school in Prep and was known for his kindness, bright smile, and caring nature.
āHe brought joy to everyone around him and will be deeply missed by his classmates, teachers, and all who knew him.
āOur thoughts are with Khyeās family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
āRest peacefully, Khye. You will always be in our hearts.ā

Khye was a member of multiple sporting clubs, with his teammates now in mourning. The Northern BMX Club said the Brickell family were foundation members whose ādedication and passionā was instrumental for the sport in the region.
āThough they have taken a break from BMX recently, the impact of the entire family on our clubās formation is immeasurable. Their commitment as a family to Northern BMX will forever be etched in our hearts,ā the club said.

The South Morang Football Club and the The Mill Park Blazers Basketball Club, where Khye also played, also shared the tragic news and offered its condolences to the junior athleteās family.
