Former First Lady Jill Biden has opened up about her husband, Joe Biden, and his ongoing health struggles.

Her latest comments come after the former president and long-serving U.S. senator from Delaware was diagnosed last year with grade group 5 prostate cancer.

Jill Biden, 75, opened up about the emotional toll of former Joe Biden’s health battle during an appearance this week on the Jaime Kern Lima Show.

Biden discussed how she has been coping as her husband’s cancer has spread to his bones and the couple confronts uncertainty about what lies ahead.

She said she tries to remain focused on the present and avoid dwelling on negative or unproductive thoughts as the family navigates the former president’s illness.

“Of course I’m scared,” Jill said. “I mean, first of all, he’s almost 10 years older than I am. And with an illness … you kinda can’t let your head go there.”

“It’s like, you can’t imagine life without them. But you know they’re going to die — just like I know I’m going to die,” she continued.

“So part of it, you accept,” she said.

Jill Biden described her husband as “strong” and “resilient” as he continues to deal with his cancer diagnosis.

She said the former president has not shared any fears he may have about his illness with her, adding that she did not expect him to do so given the way he has traditionally handled difficult circumstances.

“He’s always been the strength of our family,” she said.

Despite the difficult emotions surrounding Joe Biden’s health, Jill Biden said the couple is trying not to dwell on the challenges posed by his illness.

Instead, she said they are focused on appreciating their time together and making the most of each day as the former president continues his cancer treatment.

“We can’t look at life that way … We look at it like, ‘Joe has cancer. He’s gonna die, so let’s make the most of every moment,’ ” Jill said.

“‘Let’s be together … let’s find things that bring us joy. Let’s make this a positive journey’ — I mean, not a negative journey, because how can you live with that every day?” she added. “You can’t. It’s too heavy.”

About a year after Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis was publicly announced, Jill Biden offered a new update on the former president’s condition.

During a June 1 appearance on NBC’s *Today*, the former first lady said her husband was “doing okay” as he continues his battle with stage 4 prostate cancer.

However, she acknowledged that the cancer’s spread to his bones has significantly complicated his condition, saying the metastasis “makes it a whole different story.”

“I think Joe will live with cancer ‘til the rest of his life,” Jill said.

According to former first son Hunter Biden, his dad’s condition has worsened, as he hinted that perhaps his father doesn’t have much longer to live.

“The cancer has spread, metastasized into his bones and further,” Hunter Biden said in the Friday interview with the BBC. “It’s very painful and it’s very debilitating in many respects.”

“It’s really sad to watch,” Hunter Biden, who appeared to choke up as he spoke, said.

“The only thing that I’d say about my dad, about his health right now, is I wish he would complain more, because it’s not good,” the son said.

“He’s still doing his thing,” he said. “He so believes in this country.”

Hunter called his father the “best father, the best husband, the best grandfather” and said the former president remains at the “center of our family.”

Joe Biden’s health became a major focus during his presidency as he delayed his decision on whether to seek a second term.

Had he run again and won, it’s not at all certain he would have been able to fulfill his entire term.
